Dear Kazhaks,
It is with shock and dismay that I write this letter as we have lost two of our distinguished members within a week of each other. Lt Cdr EJ Mathews of the 1980 Batch passed away alone in his house last week and today we lost Capt Iwan K Joseph of the 1976 Batch.
Roll No 1053, Lt Cdr EJ Mathews, a member of the School Basket Ball Team was an Anti-Submarine Warfare expert and ADC to the Governor of Goa, Daman, Diu and Nagar Haveli before he took premature retirement in 2005. He was popular among his batch mates and had even attended the 50th Anniversary of their joining Sainik School on 04 Jul 2022, just a few days before he lost his life. It is sad that he left us so early and was all alone when he died.
Roll No 683 Capt Iwan K Joseph of the 1976 Batch was an excellent sportsman while in school and was known to seniors like us because of his achievements in games and sports. He was the School Adjutant besides being the best Sportsman of his Batch and best in Boxing. So when he joined Hunter Squadron in NDA I was extremely happy to have him as I was then the Games Captain of the Squadron. He had a promising career in the Navy but left it to migrate to USA. Many of us were not aware of his illness and it came as a shock when the news of his demise reached us.
The loss of two of our worthy members is indeed a sad occasion for all of us. On behalf of the OBA and on my own behalf I offer my deepest condolences to the near and dear ones including batch mates and friends
With a heavy heart
Yours sincerely,
M Sajjad/574/1974
President SSKZMOBA
